The Rath R300 Bb/F Trombone is a fantastic new addition to the world of trombones, and I'm excited to share it with you! As someone who's passionate about finding the perfect instrument for each player, I think the R300 is a great choice for those looking for a versatile and reliable trombone.
Features
-
Medium Bore Magic: With a .525” bore, this trombone offers a sound that's both clear and warm, making it perfect for a variety of musical settings. Whether you're playing in a jazz band or a classical ensemble, the R300 can adapt to your needs. Did I mention I love medium bore trombones?
-
Customizable Leadpipe: I appreciate how the R300 allows you to switch between small and large shank leadpipes. This means you can experiment with different mouthpieces to find the perfect fit for your playing style. It will come with a small shank leadpipe, but a large bore leadpipe can be custom ordered.
-
Quality Construction: The R300 features a beautiful 8” yellow brass bell, a nickel silver hand slide, and an open wrap rotary valve.
Includes a Rath mouthpiece and a Rath case.
Really an outstanding medium bore trombone with a lot of flexibility! I could absolutely imagine using this in a jazz band and in orchestra on the same day. Even without switching leadpipes.
The Rath 00 Series: Quality Trombones at an Accessible Price
The Rath R300 is the newest addition to Rath's 00 Series, offering a solid mid-range option for players looking to upgrade from beginner instruments. With a medium .525" bore and Bb/F configuration, it's designed to handle everything from jazz to orchestral playing without breaking the bank.
About the 00 Series
The 00 Series was created to bridge the gap between student and professional trombones. Designed by Michael Rath but manufactured overseas to keep costs down, these instruments retain key Rath features and quality materials. The lineup includes:
-
R100 (.500" bore) – Lightweight and agile
-
R300 (.525" bore) – Balanced for versatility
-
R400 (.547" bore) – A classic, well made large bore trombone
-
R900 (.562" bore) – Bass trombone with independent valves
Priced similarly to the R400, the R300 offers a slightly more compact sound while maintaining the series' reputation for playability. While not handcrafted like Rath's UK-made custom models, the 00 Series delivers solid performance for the price.

New trombones come with a case - of course.
Used trombones most often times not. Shipping without a case is safer and cheaper. But if you need a case, I can see if I have a suitable case for your trombone.
